Check out my Patreon page. Help me keep this column going, pay Heather, and start doing Supernatural reviews again.

It’s official! The show has been renewed for a 13th season. This may well be (by a couple of weeks) the earliest renewal Supernatural has ever received.

The show has moved to 8pm. Still on Thursdays.

The Season 12 line-up (23 episodes) so far: “Keep Calm and Carry On” (12.01) official photos and press release; “Mamma Mia” (12.02) synopsis and photos; “The Foundry” (12.03) synopsis, official photos, sneak peek, and promo; “American Nightmare” (12.04) synopsis, official photos and promo; “The One You’ve Been Waiting For” (12.05) synopsis, promo and set photos; “Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox” (12.06) synopsis, photos and promo; “Rock Never Dies” (12.07) synopsis, photos and promo; “LOTUS” (12.08) synopsis, photos and promo; “First Blood” (12.09) synopsis, photos, promo and sneak peek, as well as an extended promo; “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” (12.10) (this is the one with Alicia Witt) synopsis, photos and promo, and sneak peek; “Regarding Dean” (12.11) tech survey card, synopsis, set photo, promo and official photos; “Stuck in the Middle (With You) (12.12) tech survey card, synopsis, preliminary photo (this one’s directed by Richard Speight Jr.), and official photos and promo; “Family Feud” (12.13) synopsis; “The Raid” (12.14) tech survey card, synopsis, and promo and official photos; “Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell” (12.15) tech survey card, synopsis, official photos and promo; “Unnamed Episode” (12.16) tech survey card; Unnamed Episode (12.17) tech survey card; Unnamed Episode (12.18) tech survey card; and Unnamed Episode (12.19) tech survey card and partial title card, showing the director is Amanda Tapping, and the writers are Robert Berens and Meredith Glynn.

TV Line gave us a non-spoilery spoiler about the terribly awful consequences for Castiel’s killing of Billie, which are apparently nonexistent in the scripts so far. Also, this was in answer to a request for Dean spoilers. Oh, yay.

Official photos and promo are up for this week’s episode, “Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell” (12.15).

I’ve moved my Official live recaps to this site and simul-recapping at Wayward Friends.com, with reviews to follow.

Overnight ratings for “The Raid” (12.14) remained steady in demo at 0.6/2 and went up a little in audience to 1.63 million. This put it third on the network for the week.

Programming Insider gave an audience of 1.629 million and a slightly lower A18-34 rating of 0.4/2 compared to the A18-49 of 0.6/2 and A25-54 rating of 0.7/2. Spotted Ratings reported the show’s A18-49 fractional demo as 0.63.

  1. Oh, about Riverdale, which I mostly watch in ff and then go back if Jughead or Betty or Cheryl or…I guess I like most of the cast:

I have decided that CHERYL Blossom killed her twin brother JASON Blossom because Jason was banging Polly Cooper and knocked her up at the same time they were…involved.

And her love is so over-the-top nobody picks up on this and she gets away with it. Like there is a voice-over confession at some point in time, but nobody finds out.

Oh, and maybe granny accidentally sets fire to the Maple Syrup Mansion and kills both Blossom parents and sets Cheryl FREE so she can make a happy life someplace else. Maybe with Crazy Granny who somehow survived the fire and we all discover that she could always walk?

  2. OMIGOSH I just found out that MOLLY RINGWALD has been cast as Archie’s mom (divorced? divorcing? wife of Fred played by Luke Perry)!

    BIG casting news for me.

You know I am surprised CW did not bag some 90210 or Melrose people. Now Molly has the red hair, but I think Heather Locklear would have been GREAT with Luke Perry. (They did crossovers for a time, right?)

  3. Got a question about the Styne family: Jacob and Eldon and Cyrus were brothers, right? Monroe was their father, right? The other blond guy (whom Dean killed in the ‘surgery’) was their cousin, Monroe’s nephew?

I wish they had used Eldon first because Jacob was impressive in a way Eldon was not and I would’ve preferred him in a few episodes. ALSO Eldon killed Charlie; I think Jacob would’ve held her to see what advantage that might’ve given him with the Winchesters.

Just want to be sure I am right.

  4. OK I gotta ask: ‘why’ does The Vampire Diaries deserve ‘our’ Thursday 7pm slot for their finale?

Ticks me off. I am already dreading the Easter hiatus. I ‘know’ it is only ONE week. But why? They want a higher rating for TVD? I used to watch the show but somewhere along the way I just did not care.

Same thing happened to Legends of Tomorrow. I just could not get back into it. Last night I ended up ff’g The Magicians AND The Expanse. Talk-talk not show-show.

  5. This morning I was watching The Things They Carried and just realized something: there was a great plague during the reigns of Antonius Pius and Marcus Aurelius. The plague’s beginning were traced back to a Babylonian tomb which a Roman soldier opened to loot and let out a ‘noxious’ smell which turned out to be a plague (widely interpreted to be the first-time bubonic or pneumonia plague made it to Europe).

    Just a history comment.

  6. Hmm, Dany and Tyrion? I know she does not disrespect Tyrion for his appearance so that ‘could’ happen. I kinda sorta would like Tyrion with Sansa. (Now privately I think Sansa would end up with Theon because after horror of ‘marriage’ to Ramsay Bolton. As a woman I don’t think she would ever want to have sex again; Theon has been so caring and protective towards Sansa. It would be a good thing for both of them, to live out their lives with somebody who understands their pain.)

Again, I love Alexander Siddig, he was on some wacky British show about ‘time holes’ and I watched that (he was a sorta bad guy who redeemed himself by stopping the time hole enlargement in the process of killing himself); I watched him in some wacky Atlantis show; I guess I WILL watch him in Gotham just because he ‘is’ my idea of Ras al Ghul. Oh, he was on DaVinci’s Demons and I watched ‘that’ until they had episodes where Leonardi was mixing it up with the Aztecs. Um, NO.

    1. Not a Sansa fan. She was a snobby brat early on, then a professional victim. Now she has a ruthless streak that doesn’t go terribly well with her rather bovine intellect. I don’t think she’d be a good match for Tyrion at all.

Missed the time holes and Atlantis shows for Siddig. He was very good in Spooks (MI-5 in the U.S.), when I was still watching that show.

  7. Ugh.
Obvious comparison between retch/Mary and Ruby/Sam.
This convincing Sam to join LOL doesn’t make sense.
Winchesters would not sanction killing a human no matter how shady and there is little point to torturing the guy now that the Alpha is dead.
Still think we are heading to Retch and LOL wanting to kill a member of team Winchester by the end of the season because of Lucifer ties.
    Ugh.

    1. I have been having this horrible feeling that something is going to happen to Garth and his family.

Would Mary just go to kill werewolves on BMOL orders? I don’t think Dean ‘could’ forgive her for killing Garth and/or his family. That would be a row too tough to hoe.

      1. Well…next episode does have werewolves:

        http://www.spoilertv.com/2017/03/supernatural-episode-1216-ladies-drink.html

““Ladies Drink Free” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

A WOLF IN THE NIGHT – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) let Mick Davies (guest star Adam Fergus) tag along on a case as they search for a werewolf. The three men run into Claire Novak (guest star Kathryn Love Newton), also working the hunt. However, the reunion is short lived after Claire is bitten and the brothers race to find a way to help her before she turns. Amyn Kaderali directed the episode written by Meredith Glynn (#1216). Original airdate 3/30/2017.”

And note there’s a two week hiatus between 12.15 and 12.16.

  8. I am so excited about Alexander Siddig; I was so ticked off about the Dorne plot of GoT and his character’s stupid stupid death.

I don’t watch Gotham; Ben McKenzie has played the same character about three or four times now.

    But Alexander Siddig? Oh goodie.

    1. Killing off Alexander Siddig’s character so quickly and ignominiously was only the least of the stupid in the Dorne plot and that’s saying a lot. Bashir is one of my favorite Trek characters. Loving an Arabian Nights storyline with kickass women ought to have been a no-brainer for me, but the GoT writers somehow managed to screw it all up. I still watch Gotham intermittently, so yay for his casting.

I’m rooting for Dany and Tyrion to ride off into the sunset together.
