few months after second season's "Crossover".

Tuesday's child is full of grace.




				DOPPLEGANGER


     Smiley charges into the mine, his crew at his heels, and shoots the first guard he
sees. He glances around for the dark twin of the man who freed him.

     Prisoners and guards freeze in mutual confusion. Then, the truce breaks. Their
weapons give the guards a brief respite which soon turns on them.

     There he is at the head of the mob: wild-eyed, red-handed, beating a Klingon
guard to a pulp with her own disruptor. Bashir, with his filthy, bearded face, bears
little resemblance to his civilized counterpart.

     Smiley grins. This looks like the start of a beautiful friendship.
